LegalTerms of Service
These terms cover your use of the Lumo Discord bot (“Lumo”, “the bot”). Lumo is run by Ori, an individual developer (“I”, “me”). You can reach me through my Discord profile. How the bot handles data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By using Lumo (talking to it, using its commands, or adding it to a server) you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
You must be old enough to use Discord where you live and follow Discord’s Terms of Service. Server administrators who add Lumo agree to these terms for their server and should let members know that an AI bot is present that reads messages in the channels it can see.
Lumo is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord or xAI.
2. Acceptable use
When using Lumo you must follow Discord’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, and xAI’s Acceptable Use Policy, because your requests are processed by xAI’s Grok models. In particular, don’t use Lumo to:
- create, request or share anything illegal;
- harass, threaten, bully or target anyone, or promote hate or violence;
- create sexual content involving minors, or any sexual, suggestive or intimate image or video of a real person (including a member’s profile picture or a photo of someone);
- ask for explicit sexual content, or try to get suggestive images outside age-restricted channels or to get around a refusal;
- impersonate real people or create fake images, video or audio meant to deceive;
- share other people’s private information without their permission;
- spam, flood, or automate requests, or get around rate limits or monthly generation limits (for example with extra accounts or scripts);
- exploit bugs, for example to gain Lumo Coins, and please report bugs instead; or
- try to break, overload, or get unauthorized access to Lumo or the services it relies on.
You are responsible for what you send to Lumo and for what you ask it to produce.
3. AI output
Lumo’s replies, transcriptions, images, videos and speech are generated automatically by AI models from xAI. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, outdated, or offensive, and it may not reflect my views. It is for entertainment and general information only and is not professional advice (medical, legal, financial, mental-health, or otherwise). Check anything important with a reliable source, and use your own judgment before relying on or sharing what it says.
4. Generated media
- Images, videos and audio you ask for are posted publicly in the channel where you asked. You are responsible for what you request and how you use or share the result.
- Only use other people’s pictures (including profile pictures) in requests in ways they would be comfortable with. Don’t create media that sexualizes, humiliates, or misleads people about a real person.
- Lumo does not make explicit sexual content. Suggestive images are only made in age-restricted channels, and nothing sexual, suggestive or revealing is made from a real person’s picture, even there. If the AI provider refuses a request, Lumo tells you and does not reword it to get around the refusal.
- Respect other people’s copyrights and trademarks.
- xAI’s safety systems may refuse or change requests, and a refused request does not count toward the monthly limit.
- I don’t claim ownership of your prompts or of media generated for you. Your use of generated media is also subject to xAI’s terms.
5. Usage limits
To keep Lumo available for everyone and its costs under control:
- Each server has one monthly limit on successful image generations, image edits and video generations (together). Currently each person can make 2 per month in a server, and each server can make 15 per month. Videos are 3 seconds long. The limits reset on the 1st of each month at midnight Eastern Time and are shown in
/help. - AI replies are limited per person and per server each day. Currently each person gets 20 AI replies per day in a server and each server gets 100 per day, resetting at midnight Eastern Time. Music, games, giveaways, polls and server tools are not limited by these.
- Each server can have up to 10 giveaways and 10 polls running at once.
- Each person is rate limited (currently 6 requests per minute).
- Limits, features and models may change at any time.
6. Lumo Coins
Lumo Coins are play money used only for Lumo’s games. They have no real-world value. They can’t be bought, sold, cashed out, or exchanged for money, goods or anything else of value, and you may not trade them for real money or items outside Lumo. No real-money gambling takes place. Balances and game results may be changed, corrected, reset or removed at any time, for example to fix bugs or undo abuse.
8. Blocking and removal
I may block any user or server from Lumo, remove Lumo from any server, or limit access to features at any time and for any reason, including a breach of these terms, with or without notice.
9. Availability and changes to the service
Lumo is a hobby project run by one person. It may go offline, have bugs, or lose data. I may change, pause, or stop any feature or the whole bot at any time without notice. It depends on Discord, xAI, SoundCloud and hosting providers, and I have no control over their outages or changes.
10. No warranty
Lumo is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, coins, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use Lumo or from any content it generates. Your only remedy if you are unhappy with it is to stop using it.
12. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms from time to time. When I do, I will change this page and the effective date above. If you keep using Lumo after a change, the updated terms apply.
